It is indeed good that old prints are now being scanned and put into this web site. This is a classic location but I'll bet current MOW practice has allowed vegatation to enroach upon the scene.

Richard Leonard's NYC site states these B&A J2c Hudsons were re-numbered into NYC 5400 series and moved off the B&A beginning in the late 40s as B&A was the earliest of the NYC roads to completely dieselize. Thus your 1950 date may be toward the later possible time frame for this great picture. What a melancholy thought that these great limiteds once threaded about mountains and curves throughout the land to such extent that views such as this were merely the commonplace. How quickly it all vanished.
