Rick Erben	General	Richard Leonard's NYC site states these B&A J2c Hudsons were re-numbered into NYC 5400 series and moved off the B&A beginning in the late 40s as B&A was the earliest of the NYC roads to completely dieselize. Thus your 1950 date may be toward the later possible time frame for this great picture. What a melancholy thought that these great limiteds once threaded about mountains and curves throughout the land to such extent that views such as this were merely the commonplace.
